Siphon: a tube running from the liquid in a vessel to a lower level outside the vessel so that atmospheric pressure forces the liquid through the tube.

Uterine: of or involving the uterus.

Hysterectomy: surgical removal of the uterus.

Cervix: necklike opening to the uterus.

Cervical: of or relating to the cervix of the uterus.

Placentation: the formation of the placenta in the uterus.

Endometritis: inflammation of the lining of the uterus (of the endometrium).

Fallopian Tube: either of a pair of tubes conducting the egg from the ovary to the uterus.

Version: manual turning of a fetus in the uterus (usually to aid delivery).

Descensus: the slipping or falling out of place of an organ (as the uterus).

Myometrium: the smooth muscle forming the wall of the uterus.

Hysterotomy: surgical incision into the uterus (as in cesarean section).

Presentation: (obstetrics) position of the fetus in the uterus relative to the birth canal.

Metrorrhagia: bleeding from the uterus that is not due to menstruation; usually indicative of disease (as cervical cancer).

Abruptio Placentae: a disorder of pregnancy in which the placenta prematurely separates from the wall of the uterus.

Afterpains: pains felt by a woman after her baby is born; associated with contractions of the uterus.

Afterbirth: the placenta and fetal membranes that are expelled from the uterus after the baby is born.

Adenomyosis: the presence of endometrium elsewhere than in the lining of the uterus; causes premenstrual pain and dysmenorrhea.

Catamenia: the monthly discharge of blood from the uterus of nonpregnant women from puberty to menopause.

Panhysterectomy: surgical removal of the uterus and the ovaries and oviducts and cervix and related lymph nodes.

Superfetation: fertilization of a second ovum after a pregnancy has begun; results in two fetuses of different ages in the uterus at the same time.

Puerperium: time period following childbirth when the mother's uterus shrinks and the other functional and anatomic changes of pregnancy are resolved.

Gestation: the state of being pregnant; the period from conception to birth when a woman carries a developing fetus in her uterus.

Tubule: a small tube.

Inversion: abnormal condition in which an organ is turned inward or inside out (as when the upper part of the uterus is pulled into the cervical canal after childbirth).

Cannulate: introduce a cannula or tube into.

Tubeless: of a tire; not needing an inner tube.

Block: an obstruction in a pipe or tube.

Test Tube: glass tube closed at one end.

Bore: diameter of a tube or gun barrel.

Barrel: a tube through which a bullet travels when a gun is fired.
