Acid-Fast: not easily decolorized by acid solutions; pertains to micro-organisms (especially the tubercle bacillus that causes tuberculosis).

T.B.: infection transmitted by inhalation or ingestion of tubercle bacilli and manifested in fever and small lesions (usually in the lungs but in various other parts of the body in acute stages).

Koch: German bacteriologist who isolated the anthrax bacillus and the tubercle bacillus and the cholera bacillus (1843-1910).

Scab: the crustlike surface of a healing skin lesion.

Stigma: a skin lesion that is a diagnostic sign of some disease.

Aphasia: inability to use or understand language (spoken or written) because of a brain lesion.

Agraphia: a loss of the ability to write or to express thoughts in writing because of a brain lesion.

Tuberculoid: resembling tuberculosis.
