Colloquium: an academic meeting or seminar usually led by a different lecturer and on a different topic at each meeting.

Sculler: someone who sculls (moves a long oar pivoted on the back of the boat to propel the boat forward).

Scull: a long oar that is mounted at the stern of a boat and moved left and right to propel the boat forward.

Running Light: light carried by a boat that indicates the boat's direction; vessels at night carry a red light on the port bow and a green light on the starboard bow.

Racecourse: a course over which races are run.

Interracial: between races.

Segregationist: someone who believes the races should be kept apart.

Interracial: involving or composed of different races.

Biracial: consisting of or combining two races.

Long-Distance Runner: someone who participates in long-distance races (especially in marathons).

Jockey: someone employed to ride horses in horse races.

Craniology: the scientific study of the skulls of various human races.

Homo Sapiens Sapiens: subspecies of Homo sapiens; includes all modern races.

Desegregate: open (a place) to members of all races and ethnic groups.

Race Riot: a riot caused by hatred for one another of members of different races in the same community.

Bookie: a gambler who accepts and pays off bets (especially on horse races).

Half-Caste: an offensive term for the offspring of parents of different races or cultures.

Racial: of or characteristic of race or races or arising from differences among groups.

Hurdle: a light movable barrier that competitors must leap over in certain races.

Seance: a meeting of spiritualists.

Adjournment: the termination of a meeting.

Acceptable: meeting requirements.

Greet: express greetings upon meeting someone.

Quarter Horse: a small powerful horse originally bred for sprinting in quarter-mile races in Virginia.

Appointment: a meeting arranged in advance.

Adjourn: break from a meeting or gathering.

Attendance: the act of being present (at a meeting or event etc.).
