Welder: joins pieces of metal by welding them together.

Weld: a metal joint formed by softening with heat and fusing or hammering together.

Spot Welder: a welder who does spot welding.

Spot Weld: each of the welds made by welding at a separate point.

Spot Welding: creating an overlapping joint by welding at small points.

Acetylene: a colorless flammable gas used chiefly in welding and in organic synthesis.

Acupressure: treatment of symptoms by applying pressure with the fingers to specific pressure points on the body.

Bar: a rigid piece of metal or wood; usually used as a fastening or obstruction or weapon.

Compressing: applying pressure.

Calorie: a unit of heat equal to the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree at one atmosphere pressure; used by nutritionists to characterize the energy-producing potential in food.

Strainer: a filter to retain larger pieces while smaller pieces and liquids pass through.

Demulcent: having a softening or soothing effect especially to the skin.

Warm: having or producing a comfortable and agreeable degree of heat or imparting or maintaining heat.

Attachment: the act of fastening things together.

Furnace: an enclosed chamber in which heat is produced to heat buildings, destroy refuse, smelt or refine ores, etc.

Air Compressor: a compressor that takes in air at atmospheric pressure and delivers it at a higher pressure.

Shoe Lace: a lace used for fastening shoes.

Escape: a valve in a container in which pressure can build up (as a steam boiler); it opens automatically when the pressure reaches a dangerous level.

Bootlace: a long lace for fastening boots.

Osteomalacia: abnormal softening of bones caused by deficiencies of phosphorus or calcium or vitamin D.

Tape: a long thin piece of cloth or paper as used for binding or fastening.
